The Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission hosts the 2024 Statewide MLK Oratorical Contest April 26.

Students in grades kindergarten through 12 compete in four grade-based categories. The students give original speeches inspired by the legacy of Dr. King based on the 2024 theme, "The Dream Deferred?: Where Do We Go from Here?" The participants advanced from regional contests throughout the state. The winners of each category will be invited to speak at the 2025 Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration in January 2025 in downtown Columbus.
