Description
The Ohio Statehouse commemorated the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln with a ceremony and celebration, the unveiling of a special exhibit and special historical presentations. The events were held in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda and Atrium on February 12, 2009, Lincoln's 200th birthday.

The celebration began with a short ceremony re-dedicating the Lincoln-Vicksburg Memorial. Program participants included Governor Ted Strickland, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer, Senator Tom Niehaus and House Speaker Armond Budish. The program participants reflected upon Lincoln's connection to Ohio, his three Statehouse visits, his life as a lawyer and legislator and his rise to the Presidency.

As part of the short ceremony, 20 fourth-graders from St. Mary's Elementary School in Columbus were dressed in period clothing and recited the Gettysburg Address.
