Today we spend the first hour of our program speaking with Asma Khalid, an NPR political correspondent who covered the 2016 presidential campaign. Khalid, a Muslim woman from Indiana, wrote after the election that she encountered a wide range of responses from people she met on the campaign trail to her wearing a hijab--from unexpected acts of kindness to outright anger. We speak with her about such experiences.
We will also speak with her about women in politics, including in Georgia, which yesterday became the first state in the country's history to nominate a black female candidate from a major party for governor.
