As a teenager, Ohio native Tony Cochran thought he might have a career drawing "sleazy bikes and sleazy women for a motorcycle magazine." Instead, he attended the Columbus College of Art & Design, and later got a job in an auto-body shop where he claims a personal record of replacing 18 fenders in a single day. But he longed to draw, and he would find himself drawing on the undersides of bumpers.
Eventually, a birdlike little girl named Agnes emerged at the edges of his sketchbook and went on to become the star of his syndicated comic strip. Cochran visits Writers Talk to share how he manages to write and draw 365 comic strips a year, and how so many readers find themselves identifying with a little girl who dreams big.
