The State of Ohio - Redfern Blast Opponents

The major party candidates for governor don't debate face to face again until October 7, but they sparred publicly this week over education reform. This week's viral video from Ohio politics came from Steubenville, where a local TV station caught Ohio Democratic Party chairman Chris Redfern in a union hall blasting opponents of the Obama health care overhaul by using profanity. Three southeast Ohio counties ravaged by last week's tornadoes have been declared disaster areas by Gov. Strickland.

According to the description on the state auditor's website, the office is an independent 'watchdog' agency, providing information on the financial accountability of the state government. But this year it's so much more - not just because of the focus on state spending and the upcoming budget deficit, but also because the auditor is one of the three elected officials who will sit on the apportionment board, which will redraw the lines for the districts for the Ohio House and Senate, and the party that controls that board could effectively control the Statehouse for the next ten years. This week's conversations with the candidates is with the two major party contenders for auditor - Democrat David Pepper and Republican David Yost.
