Press Conference - 4-16-2024 - Announcing Legislation Addressing Housing Supply Shortage in Ohio

Play

Rep. Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) and Rep. Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) announce bipartisan legislation addressing the housing supply shortage in Ohio. The legislation is intended to foster a healthier housing market in Ohio and increase housing supply across the state by incentivizing municipalities to adopt the pro-housing policies that best fit their needs.

The bill will outline a proposal for an Ohio Housing Fund that would provide grants to municipalities that adopt pro-housing policies. These funds can in turn be used to expedite the building of new housing, remove zoning and permitting barriers, support first-time homeowners and tenants, and assist with code enforcement, among other permissible uses outlined in the first-of-its-kind legislation in Ohio.
