Newsdepth - "Bio Tour" Bus

On Monday in Washington DC, truckers who rely on transportation to make their living protested high gas prices. About 350 vehicles drove past the Capitol and White House, blasting their horns, hoping Congress will regulate trucker fees and stop aiding big oil companies. Each presidential candidate has vowed to do something about gas prices. Senator Barack Obama wants to make sure that whatever they decide to do will actually help. Bob Lee has decided to ride his horse to work. He says not a single day goes by that his co-workers aren't complaining about the expense of gasoline. Bob knows his one-man protest won't make a huge difference, but maybe it will save him a few dollars - and keep his horse exercised!

One group of activists has found a unique way of spreading the green word on the road. Home for this quartet of eco-activists is a bus that's touring the country to spread a message of sustainability. They call their effort "bio tour." They are taking their message to college students and anyone else who will listen. The bus itself is an example of sustainability. It runs on biodiesel and used vegetable oil.

Virginia's governor took a look at tornado damage in the southern part of the state on Monday. Three tornadoes ripped through southern Virginia Sunday, destroying homes and reducing peoples' livelihoods to rubble. Thankfully no one was killed, but more than 200 hundred people were injured in Suffolk, Virginia, the hardest hit area where a funnel cloud touched down and went on a 25-mile rampage. The governor has declared a state of emergency for the hardest hit areas.
