Feagler and Friends - Tim Hagan

Cuyahoga County Commissioner Tim Hagan:

Dozens of agencies are bracing for budget cuts as the county pares its budget in tight economic times that are shrinking government revenues. Hagan will discuss with Mr. Feagler budget cutting plans; progress on the proposed convention center and medical mart; purchase of a new vote-counting system and other issues challenging Cuyahoga County government. Hagan has served 21 years as a county commissioner, one of only four people to serve non-consecutive terms. His tenure on the Board of Commissioners was interrupted in 2000 when he ran for Governor.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:

It's a condition affecting an estimated four million Americans. CFS can turn a shower into an exhausting ordeal and make crossing a street feel like a ten-mile hike. It disturbs sleep and produces flu-like symptoms. No one is sure what causes it and doctors are still learning how to treat it. Mr. Feagler will speak with Nancy Duray, a former interior designer who's suffered from CFS for nearly 20 years and with Dr. Nosson Goldfarb, who treats CFS at the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center of Cleveland.

Above and Beyond:

In 2004, Westlake resident and St. Ignatius High School grad Tim Mack went to the summer games in Athens and set an Olympic pole vaulting record of 19-feet-six-and-a-quarter inches. Not bad for an athlete who never jumped high enough in his prep days to qualify for the state track and field meet. Cleveland Plain Dealer sportswriter Bill Livingston chronicles Tim Mack's rise to the ranks of elite pole vaulters in his new book Above and Beyond, the Pole Vault and the Quest for Olympic Gold. Livingston takes us inside an arcane fraternity to look at the fierce training regimen required of the sport's best and the mercurial personalities who populate pole vaulting.
