Feagler and Friends - The Case for Medicaid Expansion

Newsmaker: Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald

It's been nearly two years since Cuyahoga County's administration embarked on a new path of governance aimed at improving service, increasing transparency and boosting the economy. FitzGerald talks with Mr. Feagler about major developments of the past few months and of persistent reports that he's preparing to seek statewide office.

Newsmaker II: Amy Hanauer, executive director, Policy Matters Ohio

The Cleveland-based liberal think tank suggests Ohio would be well-advised to expand its Medicaid services to encompass more low-income people. State officials are considering their response to a section of the Affordable Care Act that promises federal aid to help with any expansion. Policy Matters favors expansion because it would improve the health of a large segment of the population and would bring in billions of dollars in federal revenue.

Movie Ignites Mideast Turmoil

An obscure online video that mocks Mohammed, the founder of Islam, sparked a firestorm of protest in Egypt, Libya and other Islamic-majority countries. In Libya, the protest was the backdrop - perhaps the cover - for the killing of U.S. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three of his staffers. Among possibilities under investigation is that the attack was organized by a terrorist group to make a political point on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. Mr. Feagler discusses the protests with Plain Dealer editorial page editor and former foreign affairs writer Elizabeth Sullivan.
