Feagler and Friends - Smoking Ban

Roundtable panelists: Chris Sheridan, editorial writer; Regina Brett, columnist, The Plain Dealer; Bob Dyer, columnist, Akron Beacon Journal.

Smoking Ban: Summit County's much-ballyhooed indoor smoking ban took effect on Fat Tuesday. It's the first in the state to enact a countywide ban. But it's not exactly universal. Eight eating and drinking establishments won a temporary reprieve while their lawsuits seeking a permanent exemption work their way through the courts. Some municipalities are crafting their own laws; and the county council is thinking about suspending the law.

Truancy Sweep: Cleveland officials say they'll crack down on violence that's affected several local schools by throwing a net over the kids causing most of the problems. In the first day of a truancy sweep focusing on East and Martin Luther King High Schools officials picked up almost three dozen truants. They say this is the first of a series of sweeps to be conducted at random through April 3rd.

CEO Search: School officials say the field of candidates for the new Cleveland schools CEO has been narrowed to five. Among them, a familiar name: Bill Denihan, who heads up the Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health Board.
