Guest Host:

Dan Moulthrop

Roundtable:

Rachel Dissell, reporter, The Plain Dealer; Patrick Shepherd, founder, Cleveland Stonewall Democrats; Kevin O'Brien, editorial writer, The Plain Dealer.

Obama Visits NEO:

President Obama holds a town hall meeting in Lorain County as he marks his first anniversary as commander-in-chief. The issues facing Lorain County are little changed from 12 months ago-unemployment is high and prospects for growth are bleak. Obama will try to convince town hall attendees that he has ideas to change that. His trip to northeast Ohio comes days after a stunning Republican win in a Massachusetts Senate race where Democrats have long held sway.

Strickland's Running Mate:

Governor Strickland reached outside the political arena to select running mate Yvette McGee Brown this week. He and Brown face Republicans John Kasich and Mary Taylor in the November drive for re-election. Brown is little-known in central Ohio where she once served as a juvenile and domestic relations judge, even lesser known in northeast Ohio.

Prosecutor under the Microscope:

Cuyahoga County prosecutor Bill Mason has had some explaining to do lately. Mason took criticism for riding with a political ally who was arrested for drunk driving. Now, reports in The Plain Dealer raise questions about seven-figure no-bid contracts awarded to another friend for supplying computer services to Mason's office.

Harmony Again at Severance Hall:

Musicians with the Cleveland Orchestra ended their strike the day after it began when they approved a new three-year contract. Wages, the cause of the strike, will be frozen for the next two years followed by a raise in the third year. It's the first time in 30 years that players had hit the bricks in Severance.

Newsmaker:

Bonnie G. Teeuwen, director, ODOT District 12-ODOT announced plans this week for an exhaustive process leading to appointment of the team that will design and build the new Innerbelt Bridge. Three design-build teams will submit proposals, just one team will get the final contract, but each of the three will be paid one million dollars for the work that goes into the proposal. Teeuwen will explain how the process will work and elaborate on the timetable for construction.
