Newsmaker: Dr. Eugene Sanders, CEO, Cleveland Metropolitan School District: Cleveland school students scored gains in the most recent report card from the state Department of Education. The state now ranks the Cleveland schools as "continuous improvement," a step ahead of "academic watch" last year. School leaders hope that's a sign of better things to come. When a new school year begins late next week, students will notice some changes. A uniform dress code means they'll all be wearing approximately the same outfits to class and some kids will be attending single-gender academies.
