FBI Trumps Bridge Gambit

Federal authorities in Cleveland arrested five men, accusing them in a plot to blow up the Route 82 bridge that crosses the river valley in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The FBI's anti-terrorism unit knew about the plot almost from the beginning. A paid informant circulated among the suspects and an undercover agent sold them dummy explosives which they planted and then tried to detonate. All the suspects had been active with the Occupy Cleveland movement, but organizers quickly disavowed the plot.

No New Kent State Shootings Probe:

The Justice Department declined to re-investigate the May 4, 1970 incident that resulted in the deaths of four and wounding of nine others.
Analysis of a newly-emerged audio recording of the incident seemed to indicate that National Guard troops got an order to fire, but the government says the findings were inconclusive. Criminal charges against several guardsmen were dismissed shortly after the incident.

Who Should Own the Turnpike:

The state of Ohio will spend over three million dollars to figure out if selling the Turnpike is a good idea. Or maybe leasing it. Or keeping it. The Kasich administration says the idea is to optimize revenue while keeping the road open and in prime condition. The Turnpike has long been operated by a commission separate from the state transportation department, but that might change. One other transportation-related matter under consideration in Columbus would raise the interstate highway speed limit to 70 MPH.
