Rape has been at the center of public dialogue in the wake of impolitic and scientifically dubious statements by Missouri Rep. Todd Akin. Rape counselors complain such statements are symptoms of continuing ignorance of the physical and psychological consequences of a violent criminal act.

Akin Pains:
Republicans and Democrats alike condemned Rep. Todd Akin's comments about 'legitimate rape.' But some Democrats are trying to position his remarks as idiosyncratically Republican. The panel discusses how this might play out in the fall campaign.
Inner Belt Back on Track:
Governor Kasich was in Cleveland Thursday with news that the Inner Belt bridge project is essentially back on schedule. The Governor says the second phase of the project will be built with money borrowed from lenders, then repaid from public funds. This will allow both sides of the bridge to be completed by 2016, the originally-scheduled completion date.
Turnpike Funds:
Ohio's turnpike director says he's open to using a chunk of the road's annual revenue for other transportation needs. Currently the law limits such spending to the Turnpike and its immediate environs. But the turnpike runs in the black and state officials are looking at the possibility of pumping some of the profits into sorely-needed projects elsewhere.
Big Bill for Bron's Brogans:
Nike, the sporting goods company, is about issue its new basketball shoe, the LeBron X. It's not the shoe attracting attention as much as the price, a reported $315. Nike says it hasn't set the retail price. Company spokespeople say a cheaper version of the shoe will be available for customers who want fewer features. The head of the National Urban League asked Nike to withdraw the shoe saying it's insensitive to market $300 shoes to teenagers.
