It's a Whole New Ballgame: Clippers and Washington Nationals Team Up!

Ken Schnacke, President & General Manager, The Columbus Clippers

On September 20, 2006, The Columbus Baseball Team, Inc. Board of Trustees voted in special session to sign a two year Player Development Contract with the Washington Nationals for the Franklin County-owned Columbus Clippers, Triple-A ball club. Pleased with the deal, Jim Bowden, Vice President / General Manger, Washington Nationals said, "This is a great major step forward for our franchise to have our affiliate in Columbus, Ohio."

In the September 20 news conference, Limited Brands Sr. VP Investor, Media and Community Relations and Clippers Board Member, Tom Katzenmeyer said, "We were very impressed with the team. We were their first choice and they came here immediately when they knew the possibility was available."

Washington Nationals Vice President of Business Operations Mike Shapiro said, "The first person we wanted to meet with, when we were permitted to do so, was Ken Schnacke. His unbelievable standards for operating his franchise is what we admire and want to replicate as well."

So, Ken, as baseball season is about to open, what will a new team affiliation mean for you as General Manager, for the Clippers franchise, for the fans and for the Columbus community? What's the news on the new stadium set to be built in the Arena District? And most importantly, will we still have Dime A Dog night?
