John L. Allen Jr. specializes in coverage of the Vatican and the Catholic Church at The Boston Globe, where he is associate editor. He also serves as senior Vatican analyst for CNN, and was a correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter for 16 years. The author of nine books on the Vatican and Catholic affairs and speaks regularly on Catholic affairs in the U.S. and internationally. Kenneth Woodward of Newsweek said Allen is "the journalist other reporters - and not a few cardinals - look to for the inside story on how all the pope's men direct the world's largest church."
