Freeman Hrabowski has been the president of the University of Maryland since 1992. In 2008, Hrabowski was named as one of U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Leaders" and in 2009 was named in Time Magazine's "Top Ten College Presidents." In 2012, Hrabowski was named one of Time Magazine's "Top 100 most INfluential People." Freeman Hrabowski's research and publications focus on science and math education, with special emphasis on minority participation and performance. He chaired the National Academies' committee that produced the recent report, Expanding Underrepresented Minority Participation: America's Science and Technology Talent at the Crossroads.
