Broad & High - Tim Maurer at Mukha Spa

Wilde Hunt Corsetry

The corset has had a long and tumultuous history that dates back centuries. Intended to support the bust, improve posture and define a woman's waist, the constrictive laced bodice fell out of fashion after World War I as the role of women in society changed and fashion trends became more practical and comfortable. But these days in the Olde Towne East neighborhood of Columbus, designer Larissa Boiwka has made it her business to bring this stiff undergarment out from under the shadows of confinement and give it a chance to sparkle on the outside.

Designing Woman: Edith Head at Paramount 1924-1967

At the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster

Edith Head is one of the most recognizable names in film-fashion history. During her 60-year career she worked on more than 1,000 films and garnered 35 Academy Award nominations (winning 8). She spent 43 years at Paramount Pictures where she designed many of the iconic costumes worn by some of Hollywood's biggest actresses such as Barbara Stanwyck and Ginger Rogers. In this segment, we'll visit her historic costume collection on view through August 17th at the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster.

"I Screen, You Screen" at Rehab Tavern

Screen-printing is essentially a form of stenciling - a design created by pushing ink through a stencil made out of a woven mesh screen. As part of its annual Alternative Fashion Week celebration earlier this spring, the folks at Alternative Fashion Mob (including Kelli Martin from Project Runway Season 5) hosted a community event at Rehab Tavern in Franklinton to showcase some do-it-yourself screening techniques. Broad & High host Audrey Hasson dropped in to test her talents at this somewhat messy design process.
