Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, with its vast collections of original cartoons, has led the country in recognizing and promoting cartoons as important cultural artifacts. Broad & High videographers have documented the process of creating the new stained glass windows that are the centerpiece of the reading room. The artwork is a one-of-a-kind commission that artist Wayne Cain created based on Billy Ireland's cartoons from The Passing Show, Ireland's sketches of life in Columbus, Ohio.

Hidden Talent: Amy Leibrand

Grandview artist Amy Leibrand is an environmental researcher for a global research and development non-profit organization where she studies climate-change impacts and renewable-energy technologies. She started to seriously pursue photography after purchasing her first smartphone in 2009. Since then, she has become a leader in the global mobile-photography movement, and was featured in the New York Times for her participation in the 2012 exhibition Mobile Photo Paris. Her work continues to evolve, and she currently creates interactive wood constructs that incorporate her moody and atmospheric images, often beckoning the viewer to "touch this."

My Very Own Blanket

Located in Westerville, My Very Own Blanket is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in foster care throughout Ohio. Volunteers construct and deliver hand-made blankets (made from donated and scrap materials) to children in the foster-care system. When a child moves in and out of many different homes, his or her blanket is sometimes the only personal item to go along for the ride, giving these blankets a powerful and personal connection to its owner.
