The Sound of Ideas

Description
House Republicans recently passed their proposed state budget. The House budget called for nearly a 45% cut on fellow Republican Gov. Mike DeWine's trademark effort to improve water quality across Ohio.

The House budget would cut the funding of the H2Ohio Fund from $270 million to $150 million. H2Ohio is an initiative that was started by Governor DeWine back in 2019.

Tuesday on the "Sound of Ideas," we'll discuss the proposed cuts and what it means for water quality funding across the state. Peter Bucher, from the Ohio Environmental Council will join us to discuss the proposed cuts, and how they could be amplified by further environmental cuts from the Trump administration.

The work undertaken by H2Ohio has expanded from addressing agricultural runoff in Ohio's Northwestern area, to lead remediation, dam removal and waterline repair.

Later in the hour, we'll talk to Ideastream's Kabir Bhatia about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2025. It's a diverse group that includes classic rockers, a hip hop duo from Atlanta, a female powerhouse from the 80s and many more.

To begin the hour however, we'll check in with Education Reporter Conor Morris. He covered the Akron Board of Education meeting that saw the resignation of one superintendent and the immediate selection of the district's next leader.

Guests:
- Conor Morris, Education Reporter, Ideastream Public Media
- Peter Bucher, Action Fund Executive Director, Ohio Environmental Council
- Kabir Bhatia, Senior Arts Reporter, Ideastream Public Media
