The Sound of Ideas

Description
The proportion of older adults worldwide will double by the year 2050. Is the world ready to deal with the challenges of an elderly population? Is the United States? Wednesday morning at 9 on the Sound of Ideas, we'll talk about why the population is getting older. We'll discuss the challenges -- from a shrinking work force to expanded health care needs. And the opportunities: Redefining a more active role for the elderly in society, for example.

Guests:

Dr. John Haaga, Deputy Director and Chief of the Population and Social Processes, National Institute on Aging

Terry Hokenstad, Social Work Professor in Aging, Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University
