In honor of Juneteenth, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) and the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (OLBCF) highlights key pieces of legislation to push Ohio toward liberation and equity, including efforts to eliminate slavery from the Ohio Constitution, combat racial violence, and ensure transparency in the justice system.
The event is to uplift the continued struggle for Black liberation in Ohio, call attention to critical legislation that impacts Black communities, and reject efforts that seek to erase our history, suppress our voices, and limit our freedoms.
Even as we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States, far too many Ohioans remain shackled by unjust policies that keep families poor, children sick, and communities unsafe. From redlining and food deserts to mass incarceration and voter suppression, the fight for true freedom and justice is far from over.
