COLUMBUS - State Representative Andrea White (R-Kettering) announces a press conference to
discuss details of six recently introduced bills designed to better support foster children and foster
families, as well as to increase access to quality, affordable child care for all Ohio children through
both public-private partnerships and tax credits. Legislation highlighted includes:
• HB 583 - Jointly sponsored by Rep. White and Rep. Phil Plummer to address issues related
to group homes caring for foster children and juveniles involved with the justice system.
• HB 580 - Jointly sponsored by Rep. White and Rep. Sharon Ray to provide funding for child
care for foster children placed with families.
• HB 484 - Jointly sponsored by Rep. White and Rep. Bill Roemer to provide grants, resources
and training to spur public-private partnerships to increase workforce care capacity.
• HB 576 - Jointly sponsored by Rep. White and Rep. Cindy Abrams to provide child care tax
credits for businesses who support employees through child care benefits or expenditures.
• HB 577 - Sponsored by Rep. White to provide refundable tax credits for families paying for
child care.
• HB 578 - Sponsored by Rep. White to provide tax credit for contributions by individuals
and LLC's for certain child care programs.
