Military veterans and their families face a variety of challenges as they transition from military service to the civilian world. Though many services and benefits are available from federal and state agencies to assist veterans with housing, employment, health care, education, food security and child care, accessing the relevant assistance often becomes a daunting task. The job of helping veterans is exacerbated by the increasing incidence of fraudulent operators preying on unsuspecting veterans. This session will highlight both these challenges and the innovative policies enacted by states to better serve our nation's heroes and their families.
