Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announces the results of an audit into educator preparation programs at colleges and universities across the state to determine the extent to which they are aligned with the Science of Reading, as required by law.

Ohio law enacted by the General Assembly in July 2023 at Governor DeWine's request required all educator preparation programs statewide to be fully aligned with the Science of Reading by Jan. 1, 2025. Ohio law also required the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) to lead an audit to ensure compliance.

ODHE contracted with The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at the University of Texas to conduct this audit throughout the spring semester of 2025.
