Description
The number of construction and extraction jobs are expected to grow 11 percent between 2016 and 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, a wave of baby boomers working skilled trade jobs such as these are retiring, and there are not enough young workers being trained to replace them.

Join us today as we look into who is missing out on the skilled trades and why more people are not being prepared for this work.

Guests:
Neil Ridley, Director of the State Initiative at the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce
Adrienne Sraver, Project Manager Hill International
Rich Manley, training director Local 189 Plumbers and Pipefitters
Amanda Wisniewski, current work study/apprentice student studying Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology at Columbus State Community College
