The House voted Wednesday night to approve the debt ceiling deal brokered by President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, overcoming strong objections from the far-right wing of the Republican Party.

And former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was expected to officially announce his bid for president, joining other recent candidates including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
