Women's History Month is a time to celebrate the progress women have made throughout our history. On January 10, 2011 history was again made for Ohio when Governor John Kasich appointed Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst as the Adjutant General for the Ohio National Guard. General Ashenhurst holds the distinction of being the Ohio National Guard's first female adjutant general. As a member of the governor's cabinet, she commands the Ohio National Guard, consisting of the Ohio Army National Guard, the Ohio Air National Guard, the Ohio Military Reserve and the Ohio Naval Militia.
