The Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery is pleased to host Watercolor Ohio 2022, the 45th Annual Juried Exhibition produced by the Ohio Watercolor Society. As an exhibition space that exists to celebrate and highlight the vast talents of Ohio's professional artists, this show does just that. The ubiquitous nature of watercolor lends itself to myriad expressions, and this year's selections greet viewers with an array of talents highlighting the depth, variety, and quality of Ohio's watercolorists. Visitors can look forward to a diverse collection, from realistic portraits built up with countless translucent layers of paint, to dynamic abstracts leveraging nearly pure saturated color. Viewers can enjoy the telltale history of the artists' marks - and perhaps, imagine their own hand in the making. From impressively captured gestural swaths of color, to highly rendered strokes in each motion, these artists opened the ever-so-important door of keen observation and self-expression. Congratulations to all artists selected for this year's exhibition.
