Located in the central southeastern part of Ohio, Washington Court House is the county seat of Fayette County, which was formed in 1810. The courthouse began use in 1885. Bullet holes still remain in the front door from 1894 when National Guardsman fired from inside to keep an angry mob from breaking in.
