Finer With Age - Lifting and Transferring Your Loved One

Play

Segment 1: When you are a caregiver one of the most physically demanding tasks can be moving your loved one - just getting them in and out of bed can be difficult and cumbersome. Did you know health care workers and family caregivers sustain 4.5 times more overexertion injuries to their backs than any other type of worker? Laurel DuBeck, the Community Education Coordinator, and Pat Lake, the Caregiver Education Coordinator, from the Area Agency on Aging, Region 9, join Finer with Age to discuss how we can safely lift our loved ones and to give us tips on transporting them.

Segment 2: Softball is as American as hot dogs and apple pie, and for these guests it is more than just a game. It is exercise, fun and socializing, but don't let that fool you - it is also a serious competition and they aren't pulling any pitches. Charlie Lemon and Bill Voisard from the Central Ohio 70's Softball League elaborate on this exciting topic.
