Defiant to a Bitter End

Convicted killer T.J. Lane taunted the families of his victims in vulgar language and gestures and wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the word 'killer' in his final Geauga County court appearance. The judge handed him three life sentences for last year's shooting rampage at Chardon High School. Three teens died and three others were wounded in a shooting for which Lane never offered an explanation.

Death for Craig's List Killer

Jurors in Akron say Richard Beasley deserves to die for luring men to their deaths with the promise of a job. Two accomplices, one of them a juvenile, were sentenced earlier for their roles. Beasley will be sentenced next week.

Same Sex Marriage

The issue of gay marriage gained new momentum recently when Ohio Senator Rob Portman, a Republican, announced he'd changed his mind after finding out his son is gay. New polls, meanwhile, show an increase in public support with the largest increase among younger Americans.

Iraq War Anniversary

Ten years ago this week U.S. forces launched Operation Iraqi Freedom, the invasion that drove dictator Saddam Hussein from power. Initially, the war enjoyed widespread popular and political support but that waned once it became clear Iraq had not stockpiled weapons of mass destruction. More than 4,000 Americans died in the invasion and the lengthy occupation that followed.
