In the new media world of the internet where information is just a few clicks away, can public television survive? Public television was created to bring unbiased information to the masses and where new genres of programming could be tested on viewers at low risk.

Today, television is in competition with newer forms of media. Forms like blogging and stream lining, have the similar purpose of launching experimental programs at low cost. With these resources available, some of the public is turning to the internet for what they believe to be unbiased information.

Paula Kerger joined PBS as President in March of 2006. Since her arrival she has been committed to high-quality content, education, diversity and the use of new technology to bring public media into the lives of all Americans and has introduced a broad range of initiatives.

Launching PBS into the new world of media, Kerger has initiated innovative partnerships with companies such as iTunes, Netflix, Amazon's UnBox, Vuze and BitTorrent. With these partnerships PBS will become accessible and more influential on today's market, through current media realms.

Hollywood Reporter included Ms. Kerger in their "Woman in Entertainment Power 100". She is a director of the PBS Foundation, an independent organization that rises private sector funding for PBS, and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. President Paula Kerger will address the PBS plan to increase public service in the new and rapidly changing media landscape.
