City Club of Cleveland - National Food Insecurity: Addressing a Hungry America

Vicki Escarra will speak about hunger in America, efforts to reduce food insecurity, and the potential of the Farm Bill to increase significantly the amount of food available to low-income families.

Escarra heads America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization with more than 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations in its membership around the country.

Since joining Second Harvest in March 2006, Escarra has sought to increase the amount of food that is available to hungry people by enhancing donor relationships with corporate America, government partners, and individuals, launching the development of a new strategic plan, and heightening the visibility of the organization with hunger-relief features in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the NBC Nightly News, and others.

Escarra is a 30-year veteran of Delta Air Lines, Inc., most recently serving as executive vice president, chief customer service officer. While chief marketing officer, she was responsible for the first global redesign and reengineering of Delta's flight schedule following the events of September 11, 2001.
