The Most Reverend Bishop Nelson J. Perez was appointed the 11th Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland by Pope Francis on July 11, 2017answas installed on September 5, 2017. Inhis firstmonths of his episcopacy, Bishop Perez has been embraced and warmly welcomed by the Catholic community in Northeast Ohio. Since his arrival, he has made a concerted effort to meet the people and visit the places that make up his diocese.

At this City Club Forum, Bishop Perez shares his first impressions of the diocese and what he's learned about some of the issues facing our local Church and community as a whole such as the opioid epidemic and the need for immigration reform. Having recently returned from a peace pilgrimage to the Holy Land, the Bishop will also share reflections on his trip and offer insights on the mission of the Church in today's world based on Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel.
