City Club of Cleveland - 1-24-2020 - Ohio's Transportation Future

Earlier this year, state lawmakers and Governor Mike DeWine approved a 10.5-cent-per-gallon increase in gas and a 19-cent-per gallon increase in diesel as part of Ohio's revised transportation budget. The tax went into effect on July 1.

The higher gas tax is expected to raise an additional $1 billion annually for road and bridge projects across the state-which is significant given that Ohio has the fourth largest interstate system, the second largest inventory of bridges, and the sixth largest number of vehicle miles traveled.

Dr. Marchbanks addresses the challenges and opportunities facing the future of mobility in Ohio and the impact the gas tax and increases in public transportation will have on Ohio's transportation future.
