Kids Interview Bands

Connie Richards and Olivia Midnight of Worthington are the teenage hosts behind "Kids Interview Bands." They've interviewed more than 100 musicians on their video blog, with members from bands like the Pixies, Barenaked Ladies and Insane Clown Posse. These girls know how to hold their own, asking unconventional questions like "What item would you pull off a hamburger?" and quizzing their subjects on Spice Girls trivia. We caught up with them during their recent interview with New Hollow, a local boy band from New Albany that recently signed on with Epic Records.

Surge Columbus

Have you ever dreamed of becoming an artist or musician? To be able to create 3D images on the computer or to edit your own short film? Five organizations recently joined forces to develop Surge Columbus, an after-school program intended to make digital tools and art supplies more accessible to teens. The Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, WOSU, the Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Wexner Center for the Arts are working together to provide the resources to help kids develop cutting-edge skills with high-tech equipment, all free of charge.

Scrapdaddy

From KUHT in Houston

Mark Bradford, also known as Scrapdaddy, is Houston's salvageable inventor. Using scrap metal, Bradford creates kinetic artwork that ranges from small sculptures to large vehicular contraptions. A drivable dragon with scales of spoons and a wild creature with moving limbs are just a few of Scrapdaddy's metal creations.

Coors Western Art Exhibit

From RMPBS in Denver

When thinking of Western art, many people summon images of cowboys and Indians. But an annual exhibit in Denver aims to change that. Considered one of the finest exhibitions of contemporary realism in the United States, the Coors Western Art Exhibit - situated amid a national stock show and rodeo ¬- submerses visitors in a sensory experience with the sights, sounds and smells of the Western landscape. By celebrating the traditional Western spirit through contemporary techniquess, the region's evolving arts culture is helping to redefine the perception of Western art.
