Artzine - Art in the Outdoors

On this upcoming edition of ArtZine, we bring you a breath of fresh air with art in the outdoors:

Meet two "en plein air" painters from Columbus who have spent the summer months capturing the beauty of the Franklin Park Conservatory. Find out how their work along with three other Ohio artists has fueled an innovative fund raising event for the Conservatory.

Find out what drives Brian Nyanhongo, a Zimbabwe sculptor who crafted some of the stones in the Chapungu exhibit. Family, nature and the spirit are themes central to this art form and we follow the artist as he shows Columbus students how sculpting in stone is a life long learning process.

Discover the150 foot reproduction of Aminah Robinson's, "A Street Called Home." Our cameras were there as the mural was transformed from a cloth canvass to a larger than life painted mural. CCAD students painted the mural over 4 months and Aminah Robinson herself provides running commentary of the process.

J.D. Jackson may not be a familiar name but his occupation is most interesting because he cleans all the Chihuly sculptures at the Franklin Park Conservatory. An artist in his own right, meet J.D. as he handles the fragile works and comments on art and life in Columbus.

Botanical photography is burgeoning art form and ArtZine interviews one of the most respected photographers of our time, Joyce Tenneson. Her work has been heralded as being a combination of portraiture and mythology, and she brings her talent to this new field of botanical photography with grand results. Go behind the scenes as she teaches classes here in Columbus and exhibits her work at the new gallery at the Franklin Park Conservatory.
