Writers Talk - James B. Stewart

Play

James B. Stewart is a Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist who started his professional career as a lawyer but soon felt constrained by the conventions of legal writing. He now writes a weekly column for the Wall Street Journal, is a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine, and is the author of several best-selling books.

Stewart visits Writers Talk to discuss his latest book, "Tangled Webs: How False Statements are Undermining America: From Martha Stewart to Bernie Madoff." Stewart believes that perjury is a very serious crime, and "Tangled Webs" chronicles the breadth of this illegal activity in today's society. According to Stewart, "We have to stop applauding people who cheat and lie their way to the top and pretending it doesn't matter."
