The State of Ohio - The Resignation of Attorney General Marc Dann

The short yet high profile term of Marc Dann as Attorney General is over. Just 18 months after the relatively unknown but outspoken critic of what he called a "culture of corruption" in state government was swept into office along with other Democrats, Dann resigned this week as part of the fallout over a sex scandal in his office. It was a ten-day saga that started out scandalous, controversial and shocking, and turned stressful, chaotic and sad.
Dann may be done, but the investigation into the activities in his office doesn't end with his departure. Inspector General Tom Charles said his main goal is to restore full confidence in the attorney general's office.

In other news, the Senate passed the crackdown on the payday lending industry; presumptive Republican nominee John McCain came back to Ohio for the second time this month; Gov. Strickland says he is not interested in being vice president for either Democratic candidate; it cost $358,000 for 53 Ohio counties to provide paper ballots for the March 4 primary, but only about 1 percent of the 880,000 printed were used; and the state launches it new ad campaign in an effort to increase tourism.
