The State of Ohio - Ohio Revising Tax Tables

For the first time since the state income tax was created in 1971, Ohio is revising its tax tables, so that taxpayers won't be hurt by small pay hikes. Ohio's hardest hit mortgage holders will soon be getting some help from the federal government - $172 million, which the state says will help 15,000 unemployed homeowners.

The way legislative district lines are drawn in Ohio will prevail for at least another decade. Lawmakers didn't pass a bill to put before Ohio voters a proposal on redrawing those state House and Senate lines with more bipartisanship. Last week, we reported on the charge from Republicans that Democratic attorney general Richard Cordray had illegally laundered campaign money by giving it to two county Democratic parties to avoid penalties for carrying over money from a previous campaign. Now, Democrats are saying Sen. Jon Husted, the Republican candidate for Secretary of State, did exactly the same thing.

Once again the budget is in the spotlight on this show. The deficit for the next spending cycle is estimated between $4 billion and $8 billion. Here to share some of their thoughts on the budget are two longtime lawmakers - Sen. Ray Miller (D-Columbus) and Sen. Tim Grendell (R-Chesterland).
