The State of Ohio - Foreclosure Compact; Sex Offenders

HEADLINES: A review of this week's elections and the two constitutional amendments likely to be on the 2008 ballot.

SEGMENT 1: Gov. Strickland, Supreme Court chief Justice Thomas Moyer, Commerce director Kimberly Zurz and Attorney General Marc Dann say they're getting tough on lenders who have refused to sign the governor's foreclosure compact. But the lenders say they've done what they can to help, and note that the compact was intended to be voluntary and non-binding. Paul Richman is with the Mortgage Bankers Association in Washington, DC, and spoke with Jo Ingles of Ohio Public Radio.

SEGMENT 2: In the last few years, Ohio has become one of the many states to toughen rules on people convicted of sex-related crimes. But some say the laws are unfair, and that not everyone who is slapped with the label of "sex offender" is dangerous. In studio to talk about the law and the lawsuit against it are the sponsor of Ohio's Adam Walsh Act, Sen. Steve Austria of Beavercreek near Dayton, and Jay Macke from the Ohio Public Defender's Office. He's working with the Ohio Justice & Policy Center, ACLU of Ohio Foundation, and the Equal Justice Foundation on the lawsuit.

HIGHLIGHTS: We leave you with images appropriate for the holiday on which we honor those who've served this country - the annual Veterans Hall of Fame ceremony at Vets Memorial in Columbus.
