HEADLINES: On this 4th of July weekend, we're taking a special look at issues important to Ohioans in the military.

ROUNDTABLE SEGMENT: Right before Memorial Day, the governor signed the law that created the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. Here to talk about why he wanted to create the department and what it will do is Gov. Ted Strickland.

INTERVIEW SEGMENT: Ohio is among the leading states in the nation when it comes to lawmakers in the military. There are four legislators on active duty - two in the Senate, Democrat John Boccieri of the Youngstown area, who is a major in the Air Force Reserve, and Republican Steve Stivers of Columbus, who is a lieutenant colonel in the Ohio National Guard. And there are two in the House - Republican Josh Mandel of the Cleveland area, who is a sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves, and Republican Danny Bubp of Adams County in southwest Ohio. He is a colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve. Mandel returned from Iraq earlier this year, and Bupb is there now on his first tour of duty. Karen Kasler speaks with Col. Danny Bubp via satellite from Iraq.

FEATURE SEGMENT: Images from the Lima Company Memorial unveiling at the Statehouse on Memorial Day weekend. The exhibition was created in memory of 22 fallen Marines and a Navy Corpsman from the Columbus-based Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division who lost their lives in Iraq in 2005. It'll be in the Statehouse Rotunda through July 7, and then in the South Hallway through November 11.
