The Sound of Ideas - Ohio's Charter Schools

Play

There are nearly 400 public charter schools in Ohio, offering students an educational choice. But it's not always a better choice. Research by Stanford University and the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation found that Ohio's charter schools, as a whole, perform worse than public schools. Governor Kasich has proposed tough regulations. On this Sound of Ideas, we talk about the good and bad, and ideas for reform.

Guests:

Aaron Churchill, Ohio research director for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute
Darlene Chambers, President of the Ohio Association for Public Charter Schools
Stephen Dyer, Education Policy Fellow at Innovation Ohio
Lyman Millard, Breakthrough Schools
