The Sound of Ideas - Foraging for Food Makes a Comeback?

Play

It used to be a way of life when Ohio's Native Americans and early settlers needed something to eat, and now interest in collecting wild plants and food seems to be growing in Ohio. There are foraging meet ups, and family foraging trips, and some businesses are specializing in foraged food products. On the day before your big Thanksgiving feast, we'll talk about this trend, along with the laws and safety issues associated with finding food literally in your own backyard.

Jeremy Umansky, Master Larder and Wild Food Forager
Rick Gardner Chief Botanist, Ohio Department of Natural Resources
Dr. Peter Gail, Retired professor, Environmental Studies, Cleveland State University
