The Sound of Ideas - Cleveland Welcomes the 2014 Gay Games

Play

The Gay Games are about to begin in Cleveland and Akron and they're not all about winning. The games are open to anyone regardless of sexual orientation or athletic ability. The real competition came five years ago when Cleveland beat Boston and Washington D.C. to host the international event. Why is Greater Cleveland seen as more gay friendly than it was in past generations? And how has it prepared for these games?

Tom Nobbe, executive director, 2014 Gay Games
Christen DuVernay, senior program assistant, LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland;
Joe Cimperman, Cleveland City Council
