The bad news is cancer is not uncommon: About half of all men and a third of all women will get a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, according to the National Cancer Institute. But there's good news, too. Many patients, with the help of new treatment regimens, are beating cancer, or holding it in check and managing it as a chronic condition.
