The Sound of Ideas - Aging Out of Foster Care

Play

Foster care can be a savior to a child in need, providing a home, a family and crucial support in a time of desperate need. But what happens when that child ages out of the foster care system? A percentage of them end up on the streets -- homeless. Monday morning at 9:00 on The Sound of Ideas, we'll meet with folks trying to help children about to age out and young adults who already have. And we'll discuss efforts to hike the emancipation age in Ohio to 21. Join host Mike McIntyre.

Guests:

Margaret Mitchell, president and CEO, YWCA of Greater Cleveland
Gary Stangler, executive director, Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative
Leslie Strnisha, VP, Sisters of Charity Foundation
Candice Woodland, former foster child
Nan Roman, president & CEO, National Alliance to End Homelessness
