Ohio Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony - 2014

Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy honor fallen officers during the 27th annual state memorial service.

Jonathan Russell "Russ" Long of the Akron Police Department was honored this year. He died in 2013 as a result of injuries sustained from a 1991 car accident.

Three historical inductions were also added this year, after their departments discovered through research that they had made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities many years ago:

- Rea C. Horlocker, Delaware County Sherriff's Office - 1924
- James F. Elliot, Columbiana County Sherriff's Office - 1930
- Edward D. Piller, Salem Police Department - 1936
- Joseph Rigney, Rome Township Police Department - 1952
