In the Ohio Senate, Amended House Bill 465 passed this week, sponsored by Representative Johnson to designate the first week of July as "Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Awareness week."

Senate Bill 241 also passed, sponsored by Senator Sawyer. This bill modifies the membership structure of the Straight A Program Governing board.

Also passed was Senate Bill 342, sponsored by Senator Seitz. This bill establishes conditions for the use of traffic law photo-monitoring devices.

Substitute Senate Bill 258 passed this week, sponsored by Senator Balderson. This bill establishes pharmacy standards and use of certain analgesics in Optometry.

Also passed was House Bill 652, sponsored by Representatives Batchelder and Hackett, modifying the law governing credit union share guaranty corporations.

Sponsored by Representatives Hall and Thompson, Substitute House Bill 490 passed. This bill revises laws governing agriculture, natural resources and environmental protection.

Amended House Bill 531 also passed this week, sponsored by Representatives Gonzales and DeVitis, which authorizes the State Medical Board to regulate compliance with continuing education requirements.

Amended House Bill 594 also passed. This bill, sponsored by Representatives Gerberry and Buchy, prohibits the sale of powdered or crystalline alcohol for human consumption.

House Bill 425, sponsored by Representative Rosenberger, also passed, designating a portion of US Route 23 in Pike County as "Captain Everett 'Butch' Keaton, Vietnam, Memorial Highway."

Also passed this week was Amended Substitute House Bill 228, sponsored by Representatives Brenner and Gonzales. This bill reforms the funding of elementary and secondary education.

Sponsored by Representative Stautberg, Substitute House Bill 276 also passed, which makes certain evidence inadmissiblein a civil action against a health care provider.

Substitute House Bill 324 also passed this week. Sponsored by Representatives Duffey and Hagan, this bill creates DataOhio and the Local Government Information Exchange Grant program.

Amended House Bill 663 was passed as well, sponsored by Representatives Buchy and Huffman. This bill makes changes to the law regarding confidentiality and licensure for the administration of lethal injections.

Sponsored by Senators Turner Patton, Senate Bill 148 also passed this week. This bill designates a part of I-271 as "Army Private Brandon Sloan Memorial Highway."
